Snow in the Drakensberg

With the cold front that has been menacing the Drakensberg region over the past few days, it was inevitable that the bitterly cold weather would eventually bring snow.
Kokstad and surrounding areas, as well as Underberg, Matatiele and Mt. Fletcher experienced a light fall overnight (06-07-2011). Temperatures dropped to the minuses with the snowfall.
Many people have been overjoyed with the snow as it is fun for the children but the majority of the population wished it had stayed away.
More cold weather and snow is expected.

In Kokstad not many people are being impressed by the cold weather and ‘joviality’ has taken a back seat.
Many residents were complaining that they could not start log fires as they had been caught napping as the bitterly cold spell with sudden rain dampened the whole affair.

Although the weather has warmed up, more cold weather and moisture (even snow) is likely in the next day or two. Lets wait and see as weather forecasting weather in the area has been difficult of late!
